Katana Technologies is a global ophthalmic device company dedicated to developing highly innovative new technologies to improve the sight of people.

The company was founded in the year 2000 with the vision to enhance the current technology platform for Laser Vision Correction by offering the benefits of its proprietary technology to Ophthalmologists, while primarily contributing to reduce the dependency of people on spectacles and contact lenses.

Since its foundation, Katana Technologies aim has been to develop a reliable, safe and precise UV Solid State Laser Platform to replace the old, unpredictable, nomograms-driven, service expensive and “gas based” Excimer technology for Laser Vision Correction (LVC).

Katana main product is LaserSoft, the only solid state laser-based surface sculpting workstation, capable of performing the correction of refractive errors (LVC) like near-sightedness (myopia), astigmatism, far-sightedness (hyperopia) or presbyopia, eliminating or reducing the need for eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Katana is a privately held enterprise with an highly qualified staff of employees which legacy to first class innovations, research and development is proven by its in- house development of its core technologies – as its unique Diode Pumped UV Solid State Laser Source, its ultra fast Eye Tracker System and integrated Intelligent Software. The Katana Solid State Laser Platform is protected by a strong patents portfolio.

Katana is furthermore developing the next revolution in Ophthalmic Laser Surgery, the new proprietary and patented LaserSoft Dual system which combines UV Ablation + Femtosecond Laser in one system to perform corneal surgery, presbyopia and cataract.

Katana is present in most countries worldwide with a growing representative of selected Distributors. Customers include Ophthalmic Surgeons in university clinics, eye practices, laser centers and eye clinics.
